Picture this… you and a few of your friends want to head out to the Hollywood Bowl for one of their Summer concerts. It’s a Friday show that starts at 7:30 pm. You live in the South Bay. Did I mention it’s Friday?
In case you aren’t aware, the Hollywood Bowl allows concert goers to bring their own food and adult beverages of choice (wine, beer, whatever). They also have dedicated picnicking areas where you can sit under the trees and take in the surrounding sites while enjoying a glass of wine in the company of friends – all before the show even starts.
This is one of those special little California secrets, but there’s the rub. This is in Southern California, where the traffic is pretty much always bad, and parking is never easy. Sure, they’ve got parking lots spread around the Bowl, but this is just a hair north of Hollywood and Highland, and Hollywood Blvd, and the lots fill up quickly; especially the ones closest to the Bowl itself. So you may end up in one of the lots farther away from the venue, and then have to lug your food and beverages through the parking lot, across the busy streets, up the arduous hill, and finally, to the picnicking areas… only to find them all full because the traffic and parking delays made it impossible to get there when they open the gates (usually 2 hours before the event).
So you end up sitting on a curb, trying to scarf down your meal while other “Bowlers” walk by and step on your table cloth, since it’s on the ground now. This isn’t how it has to be!
So, here’s a fantastic alternative to the above scenario (can you guess we’re going to talk about limos now). Hire a limousine to take you there! Instead of fighting your way through traffic behind the wheel, let a professionally trained chauffeur do the hard work (they know a lot of little shortcuts to get to the Bowl too, so don’t be surprised if you arrive far earlier than expected).
Sit back and relax in the back of a comfortable limousine while enjoying music, and perhaps a pre-dinner drink or appetizer. And when you arrive at the Bowl, the limousine has special access privileges there… no being dropped off in a parking lot or curbside at the bottom of a big hill. No, the limousine will enter the main lot, past the parking attendants (the driver will inform them he’s going to drop off, and won’t be charged – obviously neither will you), and he will proceed to the top of the hill, where he will stop in a special designated area, and help you out of the limo, and assist with gathering up the goodies you brought for dinner.
From there it’s just a short (and level) walk to the main gate, which, when open, gives you easy access to the picnicking areas – usually well before the main crowds arrive. They also have free trams waiting in the limo drop-off area too, in case you don’t feel like walking.
After the show, take your time coming down. The limousine will be waiting for you in a pre-planned location – usually right near the main entrance along the curb in the taxi area. He will have given you his phone number when he dropped you off too, so you can always call him if there are any problems getting to him.
Contrast this with the scenario of driving there in your own car… struggling to find it in a mass of vehicles and people, and when you finally do, you’ll probably be sitting around waiting for quite a while because you’re stuck between three cars who’s owners haven’t come out of the Bowl yet. Isn’t stacked parking fun? You’ll just have to be patient and wait… and wait…
So think about it the next time you’re planning to head out to the Hollywood Bowl (or any other concert venue in Southern California). Taking a limo is the only way to go. Trust us, we’ve driven ourselves too…
